Sophmore Spring Semester ‘06
It felt very good not going to my “Intoduction to Operating Systems and Programming” class today.

This semester brings about the second half of my favorite year yet. Yes, this sophmore year of mine has been a insanely busy one. I had more work every month of last semester than I had all of my freshman year. This is mostly due to me taking AP World History and compacting Alebra, which I’ve already mentioned numerous times.

As I said, I didn’t have to go to a computer class today, which was absolutely wonderful. I also didn’t have to be Mrs. D’s class, which was my least favorite semester of English I’ve taken thus far. Also, after tomorrow (Friday) I won’t be worrying about Algebra 2 anymore. So to replace these three classes are:

  1. Mrs. Beine’s Accelerated Literature – Looks like it sould be a fun class. Mrs. B already preached about responsibility, challenging activities, and the like…which really makes me happy. A teacher that can teach!
  2. Independent Study – The class I can choose anything to learn about, as long as I’m driven to learn about it. I’ll most likely be pursuing music composition, or something else related to music and percussion. If my teacher doesn’t accept those choices, I’ll be forced to think of a few new topics…
  3. Concert Choir – This is the “mid-priced 4-door family sedan” choir of SHHS, above the beginning class (which I don’t know the name of (becuase I didn’t take it)), but below Choraliers (the top notch, tryout only class). I guess I need to be talking to our teacher about what part I should sing, because I’m technically a baritone, but he has a bunch of basses, no baritone parts, and not enough tenors. Decisions, decisions.

Everyone better show up at the SHHS basketball game tomorrow night, because there is going to be some major rock-outage! Thundercussion (the drumline) is going to be performing at half time, and this years routine is just awesome. I’m not saying that becuase I wrote over half of it, but becuase it’s SO much bigger and better than last year. Last year we walked on, played a couple things we had been playing all year (cadences, drum feature from the marching show). This year I wrote three peices, and our drumline guy combined them with his arrangement of some song. So it has become 5-6 minute long percussive frenzy. DON’T MISS IT.

My resolutions are going well, thank you very much.

Thanks for reading!!

I completely relate to what you said about more work this year! Why is it that every year, we get more things piled onto our plates? More homework, more responsibility, and more expectations… Last time I checked (actually, I didn’t check, but it’s fun to say so), there are still only 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (discluding leap years, of course). Apparently, we are supposed to get more efficient and competent each year. But how realistic is it to expect us to be able to take in and learn higher level, more complicated concepts, and in greater amount, all at a much faster pace than before, without increasing the amount of time in which to do so? They say that as we get older, it only gets worse. So, my sincerest admiration and highest respect to those (such as David) who keep up successfully. All I can say is that I am most blessed by the Lord with the abilities and resources He has given me, and all glory be to Him for of it because without Him, I would be nothing.

Amy, you are one of the smartest and most integritious people I know. You may not know it, but you are an encouragement to me in the way that uphold your decency in every situation. You raise my initiative to have a good testimony every time I get to see or talk to you.

yeah…”integritious” is not a real word, but let’s pretend it is. It means ‘of the highest integrity’…oops. I should really stop trying to use big words. Please feel free to get a good laugh of mockery out of my stupidity, at my humble expense of course.

Heather – you’ve been amazing me with one thing over and over, on every one of your comments.

You are so much more in tune with life than many many people I know, including myself. I really wish I could have the outlook you do, but have no idea how to get there. How do you do it?

David, I’m a little suprised you don’t know what makes me tick. Jesus Christ lives inside of me via the Holy Spirit, and to Him I give everything; my problems, joys, struggles, burdens, etc. Studying the Bible daily (this gives me soo much wisdom and guidance) and praying are also major factors (get it? I talk to God thru prayer, He talks to me thru His word). Any good that comes out of me is because of my personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.” He’ll do the same for you if you let Him.
