New Home and Ideas – wingerson.us

So I’ve moved to wingerson.us, becuase its easier to explain than the extremely long wingerspoon.afraid.org. So yeah. I have to update all the pictures, because they’re set to use Cole’s webspace, which I’m no longer using.

Now that I have my own space, I have much more freedom to do what I really want to with my space. If anyone needs some hosting space to store a signature or avatar picutre, or documents for access anywhere, I have PLENTY of space to handle that. Though I’m sorry to say I won’t let anyone put up music for streaming! 😉 That would eat my bandwidth and break many laws…unless it’s your own music…which I guess I might consider. Just email me.

A very large project I would like to undertake would be a Thundercussion (Shawnee Heights Drumline) website!!! This way everyone on the line could read news, see a calendar, get rosters, post on forums, etc, etc. Once the season gets going I could also post some audio/video clips of us, so that we could offer to play places for some money and they could see our “resume.” How does thundercussion.wingerson.us sound?

Let me know what you think and PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT MY MOVE TO http://wingerson.us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As usual, thanks for reading 😉

Music For You

Many people that know me probably see me as very picky and close-minded about music. I’m a music junkie, not in the way that I have an iPod surgically implanted into my arm, but that I also play and write music. I am also considering a career in music performance or education, so obviously its a big priority for me, located near the top of my list. If you don’t want my opinions on music, too bad, becuase here they are.

Books Everywhere

Books are totally awesome. And worth a lot more than the hour of video games I played. hehe. I think I’d much rather read a book than play a computer game or something, but it was an exception because I got invited to play. Here are some wonderful tips for getting more books for reading.

  1. Use your library’s resources and request items in the mail, through their online catalog – http://www.tscpl.org
  2. Rent out audiobooks for free from Netlibrary. http://www.tscpl.org/publicnews/templates/tscpl.aspx?articleid=1718&zoneid=43

Read on….
One thing I’m assuming some of you heard, was that I’m going to try to read many books this summer, like 20 or something. Well, the library hasn’t sent me a couple of books I requested a couple of weeks ago, so I’m kind of treading water. That’s the first thing I’d like to point out. Most libraries (including Topeka’s) will mail books to you if you request them. I’m not really sure where they get that kind of money (actually they’re probably exempt), but it’s a wonderful thing. Just go to your library website (http://www.tscpl.org) and while browsing their online catalog, click request item. You will need to log in using your library card number, so have it handy. As long as your mailing address and information is current, they’ll send you the book A.S.A.P. That may be instantly, if no one else has the book checked out, or it may be anywhere from a few days to a few months if you’re waiting on someone to turn in the book.

Secondly, audiobooks are sometimes controversial. Though you are not reading, you are experiencing a story you would not have otherwise had time to read. Audiobooks are great for trips and other mindless tasks (cleaning). With netlibrary, and the link provided above, you can download audiobooks and burn them to CDs. One book may take up several discs but its well worth it. Remember when you were little and you enjoyed listening to stories? Well, it’s not that we don’t like that anymore, it’s just that we don’t have time for it…or so it seems. Check out some audiobooks!

Thanks for reading. COMMENT.

Special Like Missy

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who came out to our gig last night! It was great to have so many people there supporting us!

We have had a MySpace for a while, but I had forgotten to post a link here. SO here it is: Special Like Missy

Also, my brother’s band, who has been together for a few years, gigging around town and stuff, is currently working on their album in the studio they built at my house. On their MySpace they have a couple song samples and some other stuff. They are Stand Under Nothing.

Thanks again for attending the gig. We may make some CDs out of the recording my dad made. So I’ll let you all know!

The Rhythms of Life

A recent subject that has been very interesting to me are biorhythms. These are wonderful cycles our body goes thourgh intellectually, emotionally and physically. Each has it’s own length, and there are neat little charts that plot them out. Since I’ve been watching them, one day that I felt particularly out-of-it was my emotion “turn-around” day. Anyways, read more about them and chart your own here:

BIORHYTHMS GALORE!!!

Operating System Rankings

Ok, so in response to Katie’s comment/question about Linux…and having no idea what it is:

There are three main operating systems today: Windows, Mac, and Linux. Windows and Mac cost money, Linux doesn’t. Windows and Mac are “closed-source,” which means that only people that work for Windows or Mac are allowed to fix Windows or Mac, or make them better, whatever. That means Linux is “open-source,” making all applications free, and updates happen almost constantly. It turns out for me (many thanks to Cole) that Linux has become perfect for me.

Here are some rankings by the means of the three aforementioned OS’s (order best to least):

  • Digital Photography: 1. Mac; 2. Linux, 3. Windows
  • Music: 1. Windows; 2. Mac; 3. Linux
  • Programming: 1. Linux; 2. Windows; 3. Mac
  • Document handling: 1. Linux; 2. Windows; 3. Mac
  • Internet uses: 1. Windows; 2. Linux; 3. Mac
  • Digital Video: 1. Mac; 2. Windows; 3. Linux

The above are only my opinions, but they give you an idea. Anyone, please let me know if you disagree with those.

Here are some picture examples of the three operating systems.

First is Windows:

Second is Mac (and this picture is kinda grainy):

Lastly Linux:

So the Linux picture is huge. But now you have an idea of what each looks like. Hope this helps Katie, and anyone else who hasn’t really touched anything other than Windows.

Thanks for reading. Have a good last last few days of school! Comment me!

What???

David is updating his site? WHOA. This hasn’t happened in a LOOOOONG time. It’s like that car wreck you didn’t see coming. I figured with summer coming in 4 days, I may just be able to have time to post a whole bunch of boring stuff on my blog!!! yayayaya
First. I’m happy to say Cole helped me get switched completely over to Linux!!! Before, I only had half of my hard drive for it, and it sucked switching to windows to use a program linux couldn’t handle. Sooooo, now linux is the sole inhabitant of my laptop, and I emulate Windows. Why would I want to do that? So I can write my drumline music and whatnot.

Second. Kyle, Ryan and have a gig a Starlight Skate Center on the 26th of May from 6-10 or 7-11, don’t remember. Try to come, so you can hear us play, skate around, and have a good time while you’re at it. But right now I’m kinda mad about it. Kyle agreed we should practice today (Saturday) and said he would call, but no he doesn’t. Yes, “We gotta practice, practice, practice…” but do I ever hear about it? Nope. Senioritis or something I guess.

Third. Cole’s forums now rule the world if you were wondering. Pretty soon he’ll own the universe…but we haven’t decided if it belongs to God or Cole. hahaha. Check it out right hizzear.

Fouth. Please let me know what you think of my other updates…like my new theme. I also cleaned out all the spam comments (grr that sucked), and updated my links bar, because a couple didn’t work anymore, etc.

Fifth. See you at graduation tomorrow!!! Its at noon o’clock. I’m singin’ in da choir and playing the drums with the orchestra.

We’ll miss you seniors!!!

Thanks for reading! You know what to do. (or if not: click the comment button and “say some’in ’bout it”)
