How to Exercise an Open Mind

Hmm. This article is very intriguing. I looked at it once about a month ago, and it seems as though the list has grown some. A few ideas really appeal to me, such as writing my notes backwards. I don’t know, but between trying left-handed writing a few months ago, and now writing backwards, it just seems I’m quite interested in writing eh? And thus I have this blog and my personal one.

I’m also thinking I’m going to have to get some classical CDs or something, to try listening to while doing homework and stuff. I’ve read that music is good while studying and such, as long as there aren’t words and its relaxing…no screamed obscenities :-).

Here is good a question (at least in my opinion): If you pair anything with anything, do you get something specific?

Ponder and comment. Thanks for reading!

When you say ‘anything with anything’, are the two ‘anythings’ the same ‘anything’? If so, then when paired, you wouldn’t have a pair of anythings, but rather two somethings. Even if they’re not the same anything, I don’t see how they could be a ‘something’ specific because ‘something’ is singular, and if you do in fact have a ‘pair’, then what you have is plural, and thus cannot be a ‘something’ although maybe ‘somethings’. However, if the two ‘anythings’ can be combined into one entity, then perhaps you would have someting specific. But on the other hand, is it even possible to pair anything with anything? In order to be paired, the anythings would have to become somethings, and would therefore no longer be anythings.

That makes me wonder: Can ‘anything’ physically exist? The prefix of ‘any’ implies it’s left to be decided which thing. Is ‘anything’ the same as ‘all things’? Once the thing is decided, it is now a ‘something’, and not an ‘anything’ and definately not ‘all things’. This leads me to believe that ‘anything’ is an idea/concept rather than something that can be defined, qualified, or quantified. Can you ‘pair’ an idea if it can’t be quantified or measured? How? You can’t hold ‘anything’ in your hand because that would make it a something… I think it’s another one of those probability type things… Fascinating…

Ahh, I love those questions. I got one for ya.
Does believing in belief constitute believing in something?
I have to write a whole essay about purpose, belief, religion, and magic. Let’s just say I’m on my way to being an English/Philosophy major. Haha.
Anyway…Good classical music…I can seriously hook you up. Piano, strings, woodwinds…
For starters I would try a CD called “Classic Yo-Yo” by Yo-Yo Ma. He’s one of the world’s premier cellists. Amazingness…I heard him at the Lied Center last year. There’s everything from Bach to Appalachian music to contemporary Asian music and everything in between. Check it out…it’s really common, you can find it at Borders or Barnes and Noble or anywhere that sells classical music.
    Have fun!! forizzo.
