Seeing that this coming Sunday is All Saint’s Sunday (yesterday was All Saint’s Day), and in leue of recent events, I’d like to post the lyrics to this absolutely awesome anthem our church choir is singing on Sunday. It was written by John Tavener for a friend who died suddenly and tragically. It was later performed at Princess Diana’s funeral. Please really digest this text. It’s awesome.
Alleluia.
May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.Alleluia.
Remember me, O Lord, when you come into your kingdom.Alleluia.
Give rest, O Lord, to your handmaid who has fallen asleep.Alleluia.
The Choir of Saints have found the well-spring of life and door of paradise.Alleluia.
Life; a shadow and a dream.Alleluia.
Weeping at the grave creates the song: Alleluia.Alleluia.
Come, enjoy rewards and crowns I have prepared for you.
Very nice.
Yeah, I’ve downloaded the song on napster…and I’m contemplating how illegal it would be to post it up here on my site for everyone to hear it’s goodness 🙂
yay bible + shakespeare = YUM
which choir sings it on the recording you downloaded?
ummm Its the same CD your dad has – I forget though.
I also found a men’s chorus doing it for Princess Diana’s funeral…though I didn’t find that one as good.
Shakespeare wrote the text or it was adapted or what? If it’s Shakespeare that just makes it all the more cooler!
Man David, you crazy. You just can’t make up your mind on what style of blog site you want.
I think it’s great you change it up every so often, David.
I like change.
Change is good.
Now if only I could choose what changes…
Represent.
It’s all so coooolness
