What do YOU want to hear?

Wow, its already been two weeks since my last update…didn’t realize it was that long ago?!

So I find that I’ve been hitting a little bit of a wall in terms of just sitting down and writing on this here blog. I’ve had time, and I even have my “write post” page come up automatically as one of my home pages in Firefox, but I just don’t write. I’ve been told to just sit and write at least 5 or 10 minutes each day, to keep my writing skills improving. You may ask why I might want to do this? I’m not going to become an English teacher or a professional author, but I sure as heck realize the importance of communication. Communication these days is easy as 1-2-3, and typing up a brief blog post is one aspect of it. Key word=brief.

So I’m wondering what the readers of this here blog are thinking? I’ve been trying recently to italicize and bold important phrases of my posts, in order to point out to the reader “Hey, if you don’t want to read word for word, here are the important parts.” I’ve also been trying to do this by using numbered or bulleted lists. But is this necessary?

Do you as a reader, and most like acquaintance or friend of mine, find it interesting to read long-winded posts, or just catch the brief updates that consist of bare-minimum amounts of information?

This issue is always bugging me. “So do they care about the details?” “Should I just say this one sentence and not really add additional support, since they might be turned off by a long paragraph?”

I probably am too conscious about this all anyway. Afterall, Dr Suess said:

“Be who you are and say what you think, because the people that matter don’t mind and the people that mind don’t matter.”

Feedback? I’m itching to see what everyone thinks about this? Thanks for reading! Comment me!

I’m sure that if it isn’t already, one of those helpful blogging tips is to have an audience. I would do that by selecting something unique your audience wants. I would probably also recommend that it be something you are knowledgeable about… like say drumming.

Make it a habit to blog about your latest drumming activities or piece like once a week or something… The more regular the posts, the more people will check for updates…

hmm Yeah good point. How do I keep loyal to you and my other friends at the same time? That’s sort of the same issue as when I split my blog for a while.

Thats the issue I’m having… see here’s what I’m planning (hahaha) to do:

    1. jimmygoon.com -> mickens.us/blog/filter:personal
    2. mickens.us -> displays all except personal posts

so that way friends can use jimmygoon.com to see my personal junk and then mickens.us will be all my “real” content…

I don’t know. I think you should post what you feel like posting. I, being long winded myself, don’t mind either way. I like hearing about my friends’ lives (esp when I don’t get to see or hang out with them that much), as well as anything else they find interesting and want to rant about. I guess it depends on what you want the purpose of your blog to be.

Well, seeing as I see you about twice a week and I don’t get to talk to you exactly, it’s kind of nice seeing what you’re up to. Ahhhhh stalker!!! haha. Let it flow, man.

One thing I would love to do is comment on your pictures. That would be wonderful.

just write what you feel. if i want to read it all i will. it depends on the situation as far as amount of hw. like now. peace out!!

Wow, I haven’t commented for a while. First of all, I think you should write as long as you feel like writing. If you just wrote one quick thing it would be quite boring and I couldn’t really feel what you were thinking. Since other people are commenting on what to write about I think writing about some of your philosiphies on the world and life would be kind of cool. Although you should make sure that you have an audience to write to first or these articles would just be dull and a waste of time.

Integrate your photos (more) and post pictures more often. Spend random time photographing random things and post it for consideration…

  10. Heather says:

I love thought processes. Post them when you have them.

  11. FADI says:

about the audience issue you have an audience and they are waiting for program to start
