In todays news news news from David David David:
1. Croc Hunter
2. Bike Riding
3. Freak Highway
4. General School
1. So as I’m sure, many of you have heard about the death of Steve Irwin, “Croc Hunter.” Here is a handy link if you haven’t read up on it. I’ll say that I was really suprised to wake up to this on CNN. This wonderful guy always seemed so invincable to me, and it really made me think about life. Rest well Stevie, we’ll miss you.
2. For the holiday the family and I (Mom dad and Jason) went to Columbia, MO home of the Mizzou Tigers!!!(though we didn’t go there for that) for a mini-vacation. The main point of the trip was to hit up some bike trails because Columbia has the best within a half days reach…they’re much better than Topekas. On Saturday afternoon my dad, brother and I took a twenty mile ride. Quite the fun. On Sunday morning, mother joined us and we did a 10 mile ride along the banks of the Missouri river…it was beautiful. I find self-propelling myself through the world (even short distances) to be quite fun.
3. Today my mom and I were coming home on the interstate (4 lanes, divided) and were in the right side lane (slow lane, because I’m just that wussy). All the sudden we realized someone was coming towards us in the left lane (fast lane, because those people are in a hurry). But this guy was hurrying in the wrong direction! What the heck? So as he briskly passed at 65mi an hour, I laid on my horn. He kept going, though put on the brakes some, so I hope he realized his fault soon after. But hey, that was extremely scary. What if I had decided to pass someone, or someone to pass me??
4. School is going good. I’m enjoying it very much, as I was expecting I guess. Marching band is coming together nicely, with the beautiful Amy directing the first two songs of our half time show ;). History is annoying but tolerable. English with Mr Dormer is a journey through wierdness, but I love that guy and the class is fun. Independent study (the class that everyone thinks wastes two hours of my day) is going good. We’re learning weekly vocabulary and I’m learning more about music as a career. I’ll also be checking out colleges and ACT and pre-SAT stuff soon. Choraliers is fun singing wise, and fun not-singing wise. AP Physics so far is comprehendable. I’ll have to dish out some trivia questions soon 🙂 And last Trig and Analysis is going good, because Mrs Montgomery makes it hyper and stuff.
So thats the new(s). Its been a while since I’ve posted and just about as long since you’ve commented…so I think you owe me some lovin’. THanks for reading 🙂
Biking…sweet. Today was an excellent day for a hill workout at cross country, it was fabulous.
I was sad because I religiously watched Croc Hunter every day after school in elementary. It’s like, crap, this guy has two kids. Sad.
College stuff…it’s crazy…time really flies.
STEVE GETS BACK NEXT WEEK
YAA
It’s hard to comment when there’s nothing new worthy of commentation. 😉
Anyway, how could spending two hours of your day studying music in the company of Cole, Mandy, and Dustin be a waste? I’m jealous, to be perfectly honest.
Did you know that in about a week and a half, we’ll be an eighth of the way through the year?
The death of Mr. Irwin again reminds me how short and absolutely uncertain life is. What in the world. Everyone always says we should live like every moment is our last. But do we really? If it were our last moment, would we complain about homework? Would we whine to our parents? Would we fight with each other? Would we live that day just like every other day? I doubt it. So why do we? Just a thought.
Ya, I feel pretty sad about Steve Irwin’s death too. I used to watch this guy all the time back in elementary school. It’s pretty weird how he’s lived through crocodile jaws and snake fangs, but ends up being stuck through the heart by a sting ray.
Those bike trails sound really fun. I never ride my bike, but over the weekend I rode a dirt bike for the first time, and pretty much destroyed my leg doing so.
That’s pretty scary thinking of what could have happened to you on the highway. I like staying in the right lane too, so don’t feel like the only wussy out there. But you sure were in the right place at the right time. Maybe there’s a reason you stay/stayed in the right lane and lived! These kind of moments make you think.
So far I’m really not liking high school that much. Classes like pre-chemistry and algebra 1, which may seem easy to people like you David, are confusing the heck out of me. Other classes like German 1 aren’t confusing, they just force me to memorize a crapload of stuff. And all this stuff about how much college will cost, ACT’s and SAT’s, and class finals is scaring the crap out of me. The only thing I really like about high school is drumline. I love getting up at 6:45 in the morning to practice and march around in circles, I love hanging out with the drumline guys (and girls), and of course, I love playing.
My brother once backed up on the highway.
My friend also once veered across five lanes of traffic in a matter of seconds so as not to miss her exit.
But anyway, Kodi, don’t worry about the ACT/SAT right now: you’re still a freshman, right? You haven’t even been introduced to the PLAN test yet. I didn’t know we had a pre-chemistry class at our school. Hm. Anyway, hang in there buddy: you’ll be fine. If you ever need/want tutoring/help or anything, have David introduce us or shoot me an email (servantofthemosthigh08@gmail.com) and I’ll be glad to help in any way I can. (except doing it for you, of course) Class finals? Those are at the end of the semester, and so far for me, they’ve been really easy. I don’t think I’ve had one yet that wasn’t a movie, open book/note, or just extremely simple. Seriously, don’t sweat about this stuff. It’s a waste of time to worry. And in 80 years when we’re hanging with JC, it won’t matter how well you did in Algebra. 🙂
Uh, ya, that makes me feel a little better. Nice ending; I know that’s right!
