GoogleTalk

Do you ever get tired of AIM? I sure do. Especially with its stupid “AIM Today” pop-up and the little ads with sound at the top of the buddylist window. It makes me so mad that AOL, an already thriving company, has to place ads and other bogus into their little instant messaging program. …There are other and much better ways to converse online.

I’ve been looking for an alternative to AIM, and my favorite so far is GoogleTalk…even though I don’t use it much yet. For all the people throughout this world that have been blessed and realize that Gmail is the best webmail service that ever was…you’ll like GoogleTalk. And anyone who hasn’t been blessed and hasn’t realized that Gmail is the best webmail service that ever was…you’ll like it too!

GoogleTalk features instant messaging, voice chat, and very quick email access.

So if I’m in the mood to chat with “Bobby” I can:
a) instant message him
b) grab my mic and talk to him (like on a phone…for free) or
c) decide I don’t really want to talk right now…but want to send him a link through email.

Well I don’t see any other instant message programs that can do that, do I? Without ads and extra files, and extra folders, baggage, and more baggage. GoogleTalk installs itself into ONE folder, with ONE file needed for ALL its operations. It’s so SIMPLE. The interface is easy to use, and doesn’t have a single ad in sight.

Here is a beautiful screenshot with Cole and I instant messaging, then talking with mics.

As you can see, Google has gotten this program right. Especially with the simplicity. Anyone who has minimal knowledge of computers and the internet could probably figure this thing out. Inbox takes you to your Gmail inbox, Settings opens up a settings page in your web browser, and Help is self explainitory. Where is says “Available” under my name, you can click and set an away message if you want. To add a user to your buddy list just click Add friend and type their Gmail address.

So, if you’re liking what you are seeing here is what you need to do.

1st – Comment me or email me for a gmail invite, if you don’t already have gmail.
2nd – Go to the GoogleTalk page and download it.
3rd – Install and run it.

You now have Gmail, the best email service available, and an instant messaging program with everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Spread the word!!!
